I am a Nurse Practitioner in primary care practice, and I have been suggesting topical Ibuprofen products (often with Arnica, devil's claw root, and lidocaine) to patients since I heard an orthopedic lecture (non-drug company related) about their effectiveness (They are used extensively in the UK and Europe, and there are multiple well done trials that show that it is more effective than placebo, and in some, more effective than oral meds, with less side effect, especially for those with stomach/digestive or kidney issues).

I had very good results with patients with Bio-entopic, but apparently that manufacturer has been shut down due to quality concerns. I have been trying a few different products, and the Ibuprofen cream from Edge labs seems to work well for patients (and does not have the odor of the methyl salycilate), although not 100%. Many are put-off by the "Libido labs" website that also markets products unrelated to the need for soft tissue or joint pain issues.

Like glucosamine and chondroitin, this may be a product that does not work for all (possibly due to skin absorption issues or disease severity, etc) but is a possible alternative to the much more expensive Diclofenac patches and cream (Voltaren) that is being marketed a drug company; and much lower side-effect profile to oral (systemic) Ibuprofen in high doses for acute issues. It may also be useful for more chronic conditions based on individual effect.

This cream works pretty good. When I'm having a lot of pain in my back or other muscles I rub some in. It may not take all the pain away but it certainly takes the edge off!!

I think it helps. Usually use aspercreme for my bad back pain, but thought this might be better. It should last longer because it spreads on thinner and seems to go further.

I know that it is ill advised to recommend any supplement or vitamin for any particular ailment but having been a user of this cherry extract for several months I can truly say it has, without a doubt, had a definite effect on lessening the aches and pains in the joints. Getting a little older and began noticing more joint pain and stiffness upon arising in the morning or even after prolonged periods of sitting. This supplement has helped a great deal and the pain and stiffness are all but gone. I will continue to use and recommend this product.

Since I can't run a double blind study on myself you will just have to take word for it: this stuff works because it seems to reduce inflamation significantly. When I don't take it for a while (I'm occasionaly undisiplined and don't take my medicine) I have difficulty removing my wedding ring (joint inflamation) which is my test for the level of the inflamation in my body. When I take this product my inflamation and joint pain is reduced, as are the number of ghout (the most hated 5 letter worg in the English Language)
attacks I have. This product works for me. It takes a few days to feel the max effect. This company sends it out as soon as you order it and believe me the price is excellent. As far as I know it has no side effects and can be taken with other meds.I'm 65 years old and am playing golf again. If you consider the cost and side effects of aspirin and those nasty NAISDS you get over the counter this stuff is worth a go. Fore!!!!!!

I have tried at least 25 other types of this product. Arnica gel is nice and cool but doesn't last. Penetrex contains all great ingredients (I have been allergic to most), and I just can't believe I found a product that alleviates my torso pain, so that I can breathe without pain all the time. If you're in pain, please do yourself a favor and try it ... I really put a good layer on it (only used two-thirds of a jar so far ... it goes a long way), and I can feel it working its way through my skin into my bones. Glad I got a reminder to leave a review ... I need to order two more jars! This stuff is a miracle for me! I have wasted so much money on other products ... I purchased several other types on Amazon at the same time ... I returned them and will order more Penetrex! Even if you're not a chronic pain patient, this would be awesome for sore muscles, shoulders, anything! Thanks for a great product! If you ever come up with a shake I can drink, I'll buy that too! I am a natural born skeptic...and I never seem to have the time to write reviews. Nevertheless, I felt duty-bound to not only other tennis elbow sufferers but to the inventors of penetrex as well...so I MADE the time.

I've been using this stuff for about 2 weeks and as I write this there's just one thought in my head. Why didn't I get started with Penetrex 6 months ago?!?

My tennis elbow pain has almost disappeared and Penetrex did the job that various other things I tried could not. And it did it at a fraction of the price.

I am only too familiar with the physical AND emotional devastation tennis elbow inflicts on its sufferers and if you're reading this and going through the nightmare, you have to order this stuff!!

P.S. The directions say to apply 3-4 times/day for 7 - 10 days and from my experience that is an accurate time-frame. The reason is that the product is what is known as a transdermal anti-inflammatory and it takes time to reduce that inflammation.

This is NOT a miracle snake-oil it is more of a medical, pharmaceutical therapy and you have to invest a little time...if you do, you'll be rewarded. Good Luck!

Lupus Diagnosis

Lupus Diagnosis question by §??‹(•¿•)›?»-(¯`v´¯)-»\: My doctor won't make a clinical diagnosis for Lupus & I don't test out. What can I do?
I have 9 of the 11 indicators of Lupus. I just cannot "pass" the blood tests.
My gyno thinks I definitely have Lupus, but my rheumy don't make the diagnosis for lack of laboratory results.

My gyno told me to file for disability, but I am afraid I will need verified lab tests to get anyone to listen to me.

What can I do?

Ma'am your doctor is wasting your time.You suspect you have lupus and they are doing NOTHING.What i suggest is to find a doctor that will actually LISTEN,UNDERSTAND AND HEAR what you say, because your current doctor is not giving you what you actually need.Do what ever you can to get those medical papers passed. Because your health is at SERIOUS RISK.

Lupus is an auto immune disease which means that the body's immune system attacks its own tissue. The result of these attacks is chronic inflammation and although the severity of Lupus can vary greatly, it can ultimately be a fatal disease. Lupus is a condition where the immune system creates anti bodies, which circulate in the blood stream and attack various tissues and organs in the body. Some times only the tissue of the skin is affected but in other cases the internal organs become targeted. Cases where only skin tissue is affected is called discoid lupus, but the more pervasive and serious form is referred to as systemic lupus erythematosus or SLE for short. SLE commonly attacks the heart, lungs, kidneys, joints and nervous system.

Systemic lupus erythematosus has an unpredictable evolution. People with the disease can experience short periods of symptomatic remission between episodes of symptomatic intensification. Most lupus treatments are focused upon extending the periods of remission and on ameliorating the symptoms of the disease. Although there is no effective cure for lupus, most medical treatments can keep the disease under control. However, due to the pronounced chronic character of the disease, patients require ongoing lupus treatment.

Lupus can affect almost any part of your body, including your joints, skin, kidneys, heart, lungs, blood vessels, and brain. There is no way to know what part of your body will be affected. Ice is usually the preferred for gout as apposed to other types of arthritis. This is because the uric acid crystals in the joint cause both swelling and inflammation. Ice will help reduce the swelling and inflammation.

Heat can relax sore muscles and increase blood flow to the area. This can help with the pain. But it could also add to the swelling.
