This crème is suggested for relief of pain in an acute attack of GOUT

An active ingredient is LIDOCAINE which is is also sometimes used for

* muscular pain, back aches, inflammatory rheumatic afflictions of the joints, sport/accident related strains, contusions and sprains

* Arthritis, Backache, Rheumatic and Muscle Pain, Sprains and Strains

Some people have reported side effects including unwanted erection in men so try not to use it on the genital area (Although I have never personally hear of a case of gout in the genitals !) A return of sexual heath has been reported.

This crème should NOT BE USED BY WOMEN WHO ARE PREGNANT OR LACTATING.

If a rash occurs then discontinue use.

About Lidocaine :

It’s a commonly used antiarrythmic and local anestheic which can be used topicaly to relieve skin inflammations including itching, burning or pain from skin inflammation.

Dentists often use Lidocaine as an anesthetic in injections .It can also be used for minor surgery .

Nils Lofgren was a Swedish Chemist who first synthesized Lidocaine in 1943

It works quite fast and lasts for a medium length of time.

It can last longer if Adrenaline is included and may well almost double the time the anesthetic works.

Inhaled lidocaine can be used as an antitussive (cough suppressor) acting peripherally below the larynx.

Lidocaine has also proved effective in treating jellyfish stings, both numbing the affected area and preventing further nematocyst discharge

Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) are rare when lidocaine is used as a local anesthetic and is administered correctly. Most ADRs associated with lidocaine for anesthesia relate to administration technique (resulting in systemic exposure) or pharmacological effects of anesthesia, but allergic reactions only rarely

Lidocaine has been used as :

* Injected local anesthetic (sometimes combined with epinephrine to reduce bleeding)

* Dermal patch (sometimes combined with prilocaine)

* Intravenous injection (sometimes combined with epinephrine to reduce bleeding)

* Intravenous infusion

* Nasal instillation/spray (combined with phenylephrine)

* Oral gel (often referred to as "viscous lidocaine" or abbreviated "lidocaine visc" or "lidocaine hcl visc" in pharmacology; used as teething gel)

* Oral liquid

* Topical gel (as with Aloe vera gels that include lidocaine)[13]

* Topical liquid

* Topical patch (lidocaine 5% patch is marketed as "Lidoderm" in the US (since 1999) and "Versatis" in the UK (since 2007 by Grünenthal))

* Topical aerosol spray

* Inhaled via a nebulizer

Lidocaine is often added to cocaine as a diluent. Cocaine numbs the gums when applied, and since lidocaine causes stronger numbness,users get the impression of high-quality cocaine when in actuality, the user is receiving a diluted product.

Lidocaine is not currently listed by the World Anti-Doping Agency as an illegal substance   (See U.S. DEA web site)

Increase Mobility and Range of motion Ibuprofen has proven tremendous for the relief of pain and inflammation.

The down side is that oral consumption of Ibuprofen has been documented to induce stomach ulcers and create kidney and liver damage.

The Europeans have been using "topical" Ibuprofen for years to gain the benefits of Ibuprofen without the side effects.

Our Ibuprofen Pain Relief Cream also includes MSM, 1% Lidocaine USP, Arnica Flower and Devil's Claw Root for added pain relief.

It has been reported that arthritic patients using MSM experienced substantial relief from pain and stiffness.

(REAL NAME)

This review is from: Libido Edge Ibuprofen Cream with Lidocaine Creme (Health and Beauty)

I am a Nurse Practitioner in primary care practice, and I have been suggesting topical Ibuprofen products (often with Arnica, devil's claw root, and lidocaine) to patients since I heard an orthopedic lecture (non-drug company related) about their effectiveness (They are used extensively in the UK and Europe, and there are multiple well done trials that show that it is more effective than placebo, and in some, more effective than oral meds, with less side effect, especially for those with stomach/digestive or kidney issues).

I had very good results with patients with Bio-entopic, but apparently that manufacturer has been shut down due to quality concerns. I have been trying a few different products, and the Ibuprofen cream from Edge labs seems to work well for patients (and does not have the odor of the methyl salycilate), although not 100%. Many are put-off by the "Libido labs" website that also markets products unrelated to the need for soft tissue or joint pain issues.

Like glucosamine and chondroitin, this may be a product that does not work for all (possibly due to skin absorption issues or disease severity, etc) but is a possible alternative to the much more expensive Diclofenac patches and cream (Voltaren) that is being marketed a drug company; and much lower side-effect profile to oral (systemic) Ibuprofen in high doses for acute issues. It may also be useful for more chronic conditions based on individual effect.

This cream works pretty good. When I'm having a lot of pain in my back or other muscles I rub some in. It may not take all the pain away but it certainly takes the edge off!!

I think it helps. Usually use aspercreme for my bad back pain, but thought this might be better. It should last longer because it spreads on thinner and seems to go further.
